Enhanced Bracelet Ceremony - 40th Annual World Series of Poker
Daily at 2:20 PM from June 1 through July 3
In a new tradition starting this year, all World Series of Poker bracelet winners will be treated to a special ceremony the day after their victory.
Each gold bracelet winner will be asked to return to the Amazon Room at the Rio at 2:20 PM the day following their win to receive their Corum gold bracelet in an official ceremony presided over by WSOP Commissioner Jeffrey Pollack.
A Bracelet Ceremony Stage (BCS) will be set up in the Amazon Ballroom, at the apex of the television-taping quadrant, facing out to the rest of the Amazon Room.
Corum, one of the world's leading watchmakers, returns in 2009 to produce the official gold bracelets.
The timing of the ceremony is to coincide with the return of players from the first break of the noon tournament. With an Amazon Room full of players, Commissioner Pollack will welcome the previous day's bracelet winner(s) to the stage and award them their gold bracelet, play their national anthem and pose for photos.
In addition, each new bracelet holder will receive a new Total Rewards Card. As is custom for WSOP winners, Harrah's Entertainment awards "Diamond" status - an exclusive club reserved for Harrah's best customers - to all bracelet holders for a year.
Play in the Amazon Room will commence following the 5-minute ceremony.
Media are welcome to gather in front of the BCS to take pictures and shoot video during the presentation. At the conclusion of the bracelet ceremony, media will be invited on stage and can arrange one-on-one interviews with the newly-crowned champion(s).
Additionally, for the first time, all media can shoot video, both of the ceremony and of an interview with the bracelet-holder from the stage. Other use of video in the Amazon Room is still prohibited.
With two bracelets scheduled to be awarded May 31, the first bracelet ceremony is slated for Monday, June 1 and will continue daily through the first day of the Main Event, July 3. Winners of Events #54 & #55 on July 1st will be asked to return on July 3 to be awarded their bracelets, due to the fact no new tournaments are slated on July 2. |
