Poker Trip Report

World Series of Poker T+33 10K Day 3

At 10pm it's all over for day 3, 45 left, all in the money for $20,000+ .

Many of the monster chip leaders earlier in the day are out, including Chip Reese, Phil Hellmuth and Meng La.

My buddies Jack Fox and Randy Holland made it to the money, as did Greg Alston who was at Randy's table and started the day with the least chips (3200); he's a Northern California guy from Walnut Creek, I play with him at local tourneys. Coincidentally, sitting next to him was Will Wilkinson, the owner of the California Grand casino, near Walnut Creek, my local casino. Will also made it to the money.

The bubble boy went all in with JJ against QQ, he wasn't a big stack but he had time to wait, personally I think I would have hung on to get into the money, 20K is 20K.

For today they had emptied half of the room upstairs, put in bleachers along the whole length, and set up the tables mostly against the rail in the other half so people had a decent view of the action.

I had heard rumors yesterday about the dealer situation but I officially found out about it when I just happened to be watching the news on TV in the afternoon while I was at the Nissan dealer spending $550 to get my headlamp replaced after the ironic boulder on Boulder Highway incident a few days ago (thankfully it will only be a $50 insurance deductible for me). I wasn't paying much attention but then suddenly on the big screen were some of my favorite dealers being interviewed outside Binion's. I don't really understand why the situation came to a head this late in the game, as the final event winds down they need less and less dealers so I would imagine their leverage would be minimal, I would have thought the time to get agreements in place would have been before the first event, but what do I know. Still it was very sad for me to see premium dealers and friends like Jim, John and Gina involved in the dispute.

In the evening Diego dragged me from the buffet and took me over to the brew pub at Main Street Station, it's a great place with excellent beer and an excellent steak sandwich, thanks Diego.

So, it's down to the final 45, the excitement is high and with so many big names out it's looking more and more that there might be some unknowns at the final table, tomorrow they play down to the final 9.

Paul
