Poker Trip Report

World Series of Poker T+32 10K Day 2

No, it's not the lunch break, it's the heartbreak. I went in to today with 9950, took a shot at the blinds and got blinded off a little taking me down to 6.5K, then got back to 9K with an all-in move at the pot that got two people to lay down very good hands. That was the good news, the bad news is that they were now suspicious of my all-in so I was going to have to be careful about doing that again. But then soon after a miracle hand came along that couldn't have set up a more perfect situation

I limped with AQo under the gun, you could question the wisdom of that, I certainly considered raising, and considered folding, but limping at this table seemed to work most of the time, and again I had a pretty good table. So there were 5 callers, I needed to flop perfect. Well how about KJT rainbow, is that perfect enough? I checked, one big stack guy bet 1500, another big stack called (both had around 50-60K), back to me I had to decide whether to take the pot right there or slow play. Because of my previous all-in hand I decided I didn't have to slow play at all, if they had anything they would most likely call my obvious bluff this time, so I shoved in my 8K. The first guy (who had laid down his hand in the previous all-in) folded again, the other guy didn't hesitate, he called with KJo. And the rest is history, a J on the turn and IGHN. I'm feeling sick because I read that hand so perfectly and if I'd won it I would have had over 20K and been back in the race, instead I'm just another statistic.

I went into this event thinking I had no chance, and that mostly likely would have been true once the field narrowed and I was up against the big guys, but based on my table yesterday and the one today, I think if I had won that hand I could have gone a long way and had a fighting chance, I won't be so fearful next year when I try again to get into the big dance.

Paul
