Veteran player Jeff Mervis
of Las Vegas overcame the
final table chip leaders
to take the final title
offered in the Bellagio
Five Diamond World Poker
Classic, the 3 Draw Limit
Low Ball champion. The multi-tournament
event winner patiently worked
his way through a field
of 17 to take first prize
money of $12,368 for this
$1,500 buy-in event.
This was the last event
of the12-day tournament,
which drew more than 1,500
entries and paid out nearly
$2 million in prize money,
including $228,192 to the
No Limit Hold'em Championship
winner, Erick Lindgren of
Folsom, CA.
“Captain”
Tom Franklin of Gulfport,
MS, and Jack Duncan of Las
Vegas finished second and
third respectively. Franklin
earned $7,420 while Duncan
got $4,947. Franklin nor
Duncan are strangers to
final table play in major
tournaments. Both have had
impressive showings in past
World Series Of Poker events
as well as other major tournaments.
