I'm in my tournament Sunday. My wife, the huge NY Giant fan, is home watching the game, and it's on tv in the poker room. It's 31-10 Giants midway through the fourth quarter, and midway through the fifth level, I'm at 2x the average stack and cruising along comfortably towards final table.
The Giants give up 2 quick TDs and it's 31-24. I get in a battle of the blinds with a guy about half my stack, I raise with A5 sooted, he calls. Flop is AAJ. I bet, he moves in, I call he shows A3. No chops in my world, he spikes his 3 on the river, now I have an average stack.
A couple of hands later, as the Eagles are tying the Giants, I call a shortstack all-in holding AQ. He holds KQ and catches his K. Small hit, but now I'm below average.
A few minutes later, the Giants have the ball. I open raised from late position with JTsp, called by the button and min-raised by the BB. Both call. Flop is KsQx9s. How cool is that? BB bets, I move in, BB calls with AK. The Giants punt, the turn/river comes running KQ, but not the Qsp, as DeSean Jackson scores on the punt return.
Some of this is mildly exaggerated for effect, but the time sequences were pretty close.
