From what I've seen Daniel Negreanu says it like it is. I've seen him talk bad about top pros and defend people I thought were jerks. He says that Mike IS a good guy and a friend of his. Now I don't think that his constant slip ups by going overboard at other peoples expense is ok. He should realize that poker today is not like it was even 3 or 4 years ago. Three or four years ago there was hardly EVER a tournament on TV. Now they're on several times a week. So now that he has the jerk image that's exactly what the stations are going to look for. They're going to listen to his every word and try to make him look like even a bigger jerk than he seems to be.
Bottom line is he has seen that messing with SOME people makes them play worse. So he does it to almost everyone in hopes of getting them on tilt. I honestly think if he sat back and saw what a jerk he looks like he would feel bad and TRY to correct his chilish antics. Then again maybe he'd sit back and think he's cute.
P.S. - Even though I don't like him I think he's FAR better than just a good player. He has excellent instincts and plays tough.

OK let me clarify my post. I don't doubt the the mouth is a very good player. When I say top level player, I think of Lederer, Daniel N., Ivey, etc. I don't think Mike is of this caliber. I agree that he is still a great player.
