I know this is going to draw a lot of fire, but here goes. Mike Matusow may have a really hot temper, and it may lead him to be an asshole. However, that thing where he he said to Raymer "I have big balls, you have tiny balls" was absoloutely hilarious. Furthermore, Matusow was playing great poker, and the way he got busted out of the WSOP was brutal. A-K losing to A-Q on the river???? That is the nastiest beat. I would practically be reduced to tears if that hand busted me out of the biggest tournament in my life. Anyhoo, I think at heart he is a decent guy, who lets his mouth get the better of him. But I think ppl overlook the fact that he apologized after the Raymer comment, and that he played great poker.
Anyhoo, fire away.

I'll fire away... If you ever saw his personal interview you would know it's his favorite thing to needle people every chance he gets. He enjoys starting shit and being in conflict with other players. It's all part of a childish tactic you would see attempted in a amatuer home game. It's not professional and really has no place at the level he is playing. If he had any brains at all he would figure out his behavior has no affect on the players. Since his ego is far more inflated then Phils could ever be you won't see Matusow admitting that anything he does is worthless. Like going all in with a pair of tens when the flush is right in your face. DOH!!! classic egotistical Matusow, just couldn't accept that his lowsy tens were beat and thought he could intimidate Paul in to a fold! NOT!

k, wanderer, I don't think I saw that hand w/ the tens. That certainly isn't the hand he busted out on. The one time I saw Matusow w/ tens he lost when Raymer hit his ace on the turn.

Like already stated. Matusow's teenage tactics of trying to insult other players to get them on tilt, do not work on top level players. Just look at how on tilt he got Greg Raymer. Wait he didnt. And before any poker genius tells me Raymer isn't a great player do your homework. Raymer has been playing the big games in Atlantic City for years and he also has many other good tourney finishes, so he is no fluke. Matusow is a joke. He is a good, note the word good, player and nothing else. Better than me, obviously, a top level player, not a chance.

I wasn't going to say that Raymer isn't a great player. But I do think that Matusow is also a good player. Maybe not one of the greats, but he certainly knows the game, and I give anyone who can actually make a good living off of poker credit for being an extremely skilled and solid player.

How could anyone get Greg Raymer on tilt? He was on tilt the whole tournament, and was the luckiest player I've ever seen.
Did anyone else notice how many times he was all-in or calling someone's all-in with the worse hand and then caught his card on 4th or 5th street? Although we don't get to see very many hands, so maybe most of the time he actually did go in with the odds in his favor. Every play I saw though was him being stupidly aggressive and getting lucky.

he had a shitload of chips, how could he be on tilt? i saw it as him just trying to add more to his stack by knocking people out by lucky draws

The key hand in the tourny for Raymer was never shown on TV! He took a large chunk of chips from Arieh on a well played out hand. It gave him a huge boost in chips in which he proceeded to use properly and continue to put pressure on everyone else. People seem to forget that you don't have to be chip leader the entire time to win a tournament. Being chip leader allows you to take more chances and if you lose a few chips here and there so be it. He used his lead properly.
