There have been several posts about beating low limit games and I have read them all. I currently play in a great room in AZ that has about 50 tables. They have some great high limit games that I have not had the guts to sit down at yet. So I sat for the first six months at the 3/6 or 4/8 table and I saw major swings because of the "no foldem holdem" mentality in these games. I got very frustrated. Lately I have learned a lot about these games and have done very well. Over the last 8 times I have sat in these games I have managed to 7 of those times. I sat with $100 and walked each time with at least $200 profit. The one time I did lose I had some bad beats and by the time I was down about $160 my wife wanted to leave so I had no chance of grinding out at least to even.
The thing I have learned is that I know when I sit down that there are going to be people run you down with 7, 2 off suit but you will know when they make their hand and you can very easily throw yours away and save you money. But the thing that makes these game so fun for me is that just as these people will chase you down they also will not have a clue when you trap them when you have the nuts. I sat yesterday and played for about 8 hours and 5 of that I drove this guy crazy. After I slowplayed an A J(top two pair)and took another 60 dollar pot off of him he asked for a table change.
My conclusion and looking for other opinions but I think that you can beat these games because you will know exactly when they make their hand and they will have no clue when you make yours. It may take a long time to make money but I think that it can be done.

A casino has just introduced 5-10 HE in my area.....closest legal game within about an 8 hour drive. I went down to play this last weekend and made $36 for a twelve hour run. This game wasn't just loose, It was worse than freeroll internet poker...as a mater of fact the 2-4 games in AC were a lot more sensible. I find loose games quite frustrating but this style of game brought me to new levels of frustration. I believe that the game quality was low not because of the low liumits but the fact that a lot of people didn't know how to play. Has anyone experienced this in a new card room or casino? If so how long until the bar is raised so that thegame resembles sane poker?

the poker scene from where I'm from is just in it's infintile stage.. close to being dead anyways if new blood doesn't come in quick.
Usually I think 6mo to a year depending on the population size and quality of players at that time.
New players will love the game and play quite lose.. but soon when experienced players move in it's enevitable that they (the loose players) will keep losing and either be discouraged at the large losses or become better players. Those that like the game just can't get good usually I feel stay at low limits, where others play similarly or where there is a minimum loss for the evening.
So I think once a solid bunch of good players start coming out consistantly the game will improve, until then you may have to guard the grill.

A good point to note is that the game is also excellent at this time if you bring 3-4 friends who can play decent. You'll all be picking on the fish together, I'd imagine you could each walk away in profit.
