12 hours of Pro Poker Under my Belt!

So far I've played 12 hours of poker this week and have been slowly increasing the hours every day. I hope to be hitting 20-25h for a full week next week and hopefully up to 25-30 the following week.
It really has been anything but the dream start. I feel I've been playing solid, disciplined poker and aside from the very odd pre-flop decision I've not tilted and have been quick to regain any lost composure. It amazes me when I read some top level pro blogs how often they claim to tilt bad and yet the still win at 6+ptbb/100. They must be god like in their reads on every non-tilt hand because I tilt so rarely but fail to crush the games.
For my 12 hours work or 4,169 hands I'm down $399.45 and the session I just finished was the worst! I got completely destroyed and was getting lots of juicy premium hands. I lost another key coin flip, although technically it wasn't a flip, as the bulk of the money went in on the low flop with my QQ vs AK. I've lost two $400 flips and one $500 flip that I can recall. I've had AA cracked more times than I care to remember and generally I've been having a rough time of it. One hand that really annoyed me was this one. I was confident villain had sweat-f.a. and how he can make this play on the turn is absolutely beyond me:

Oh and earlier today UTG in a short-handed game makes it $7, I make it $24 in the BB with A10 and he calls. Flop is 10,J,10 and to cut a long story short UTG has J10. Stacked. Again!
Just checked and my top losing hands from today are (in order):
- AA cracked by QQ
- 32 nutter
- A10 vs J10
- QQ vs AK all in on low flop
- 95s two pair cracked
- A $175 pot coin flip
- 2nd nut straight (low) into a backdoor runner-runner nut high
Give me strength! Early days, very early days I have to keep telling myself. To read more or to leave comments click [Splats Poker Blog] |
